- Conduct fire drills
- Smoke detectors are installed on every floor, and frequently tested
- Exits are well marked and easy for all children to access
- Any toxic substances should be kept in a locked cabinets away from curious children
- Phone numbers for police, fire, ambulance, and poison control are clearly posted
- Outdoor play equipment is safe and well maintained
